So I'm sitting in a restaurant a few weeks ago and just happened to look across into the bar just in time to see Serena Williams throw a temper tantrum on live tv. After a set at Wimbledon, a losing set, Serena takes a seat and then slams her racket repeatedly into the ground, like a child, before flinging it carelessly behind her into someones lap. Then without missing a beat pulls a new racket out of her bag. No big deal right? Williams was fined $10,000 for the toddler like tantrum. Maybe she should of told them she was just killing a roach, and then sent them a bill for pest control (roflmao). This isn't the first time Serena has smashed a racket, and according to her it won't be the last. Here's a quote from a Washington Post Article, “I’ve cracked a number of rackets throughout my career. I’ve gotten fined a number of times for cracking rackets,” Williams admitted after the game. She then joked: I don’t want to go too long without cracking a racket. You know, I’m on track. I try to crack a certain amount a year. I’m a little behind this year, so it was good.” Hey, why not, she is the highest paid female athlete in all of sports. Just last year she pulled in 77 million dollars ($77,000,000.00), what's a few $10,000 fines a year. That's just last year people, and some people work their tails of and can't feed their famalies or get raises. Some get paid stupid money to hit a ball and act like kids when they lose. This is insanity! I was embarrassed for her watching it. Forget the fine, wouldn't you feel like the biggest idiot on the planet just doing this in front of an opponent, much less a large crowd of tennis fans (that made me laugh), and then it's on tv too. Let's not forget the internet where it will live on forever. Check out YouTube for the replay, you'll even find some compilations of Serena's best racket smashes. She should start painting herself green when she plays tennis.
